Meeting Minutes of the Indianola Port District Board of Port Commissioners Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 7:00 PM Indianola Clubhouse, 19876 Indianola Road NE, Indianola, WA 98342

Commissioners in Attendance: Gary Walker, Ted Schmid, Cindy Abbott Auditor: Michael Buerger Recording Secretary: Melody Jorgensen (not present) Guests: None

Call to Order

Commissioner Schmid called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.

Commissioner Comments

Commissioner Comments is the time for Board members to present verbal reports and suggest future agenda items. None.

All matters listed within the Consent Agenda have been distributed to each member of the Commission for reading and study. They are considered routine and will be enacted by one motion of the Commission with no separate discussion. If separate discussion is desired, that item may be removed from the Consent Agenda and placed on the Regular Agenda by a Commission member or by a citizen request.

A. Meeting Minutes of the April 21, 2026 regular meeting – Commissioner Schmid moved to accept the minutes as submitted. Seconded by Commissioner Abbott. Unanimously approved.

B. Accounting Summary Report – As of March 2026:

  • General Fund #88715: $72,771.52
  • General Fund Investment Account: $484,497.60
  • Total: $557,269.12

C. Payables –

  • Voucher #2182 Marine Floats Corporation: $26.25

Old Business Items

None.

New Business Items

A. Resolution 2026-02 – Resolution resubmitted to update the bond payoff date to May 29, 2026, and the payoff amount to $146,751.64. Commissioner Schmid moved to approve the update. Seconded by Commissioner Abbott. Motion passed unanimously.

B. Yearly Financial Report to County – Michael Buerger will complete and submit the report before the May 31, 2026 deadline.

C. Tribal History Sign – Commissioner Schmid reported speaking with Beth Nichols regarding the proposed revisions to the wording on the Tribal history sign located at the head of the dock.

D. Garden Club Proposal – The Garden Club presented a proposal to install a piece of artwork in the planter box at the head of the dock. The primary concern discussed was the potential for vandalism. There would be no cost to the Port. Commissioner Schmid moved to accept the proposal. Seconded by Commissioner Abbott. Motion passed unanimously.

E. Next Meeting – Monday, June 15, 2026.
