Call to Order
Commissioner Henderson called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM.
Commissioner Comments
Commissioner Comments is the time for Board members to present verbal reports and suggest future agenda items. None.
Consent Agenda Items
All matters listed within the Consent Agenda have been distributed to each member of the Commission for reading and study, are considered routine, and will be enacted by one motion of the Commission with no separate discussion. If separate discussion is desired, that item may be removed and placed on the Regular Agenda by a Commission member or by Citizen Request.
- Meeting Minutes of the April 19, 2022 regular meeting – Commissioner Cookson moved to accept the minutes as submitted, seconded by Commissioner Walker, passed unanimously.
- Accounting Summary Report submitted by Port Auditor Susan Henry as of April 19, 2022.
- Net General Fund balance (as of May 17, 2022): $88,027.00
- RCO Project Fund balance transferred to the General Fund following completion of the dock project.
- Project Fund Expense Balance: ($88,100.00)
- Actual Project Costs (less RCO Grant Reimbursement): $42,961.00
- As agreed in earlier meetings, the Project Fund is now being used to track the RCO Grant Match.
- Payables:
- Voucher #2127 – VOIDED Check
- Voucher #2128 – Materials Testing & Consulting Inc. – $1,597.00
- Voucher #2129 – IBIC for 2022 Security – $1,000.00
- Total Payments: $2,597.00
- Commissioner Walker moved to accept the payment voucher as submitted, seconded by Commissioner Cookson, passed unanimously.
Old Business Items
- None.
New Business Items
- Dock signage: Beth Nichols, Doug Hayman, representatives of the Suquamish Tribe, and local residents discussed potential signage for the dock upgrade. The signage may be part of a new and updated Port of Indianola History sign.
- Bench design: Discussion of a bench on the south side of the new planter, possibly with Suquamish tribal input. A committee was created consisting of Commissioner Walker, Port Auditor Susan Henry, Beth Nichols, and Marilyn Wandry.
- Dock approach repair: Discussion to remove asphalt at the dock approach approximately 25’ north of the dock decking to create a smoother transition. Commissioner Walker to contact Trowbridge Construction for the name of the cement contractor previously used.
- Bench plaque: Discussion of a new bench plaque and dedication.
- Plant watering: A source of water for the new planting will need to be addressed, perhaps with neighboring properties, as the Port does not have a dedicated water source.
- Power upgrade: Ongoing power upgrade with new meter and panel. Commissioners Walker, Henderson, and Bob Kinnaird are involved.
