Meeting Minutes of the Indianola Port District Board of Port Commissioners Thursday, August 18, 2016 – 7:00 PM Indianola Clubhouse, 20446 Indianola Road NE, Indianola, WA 98342

Commissioners in attendance: Eric Cookson, John Lane Port Auditor: Susan Henry Recording Secretary: Jeff Henderson

Call to Order#

Commissioner Henderson called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM.

Commissioner Comments#

Commissioner Comments is the time for Board members to present verbal reports and suggest future agenda items. None.

Consent Agenda Items#

All matters listed within the Consent Agenda have been distributed to each member of the Commission for reading and study, are considered routine, and will be enacted by one motion of the Commission with no separate discussion. If separate discussion is desired, that item may be removed from the Consent Agenda and placed on the Regular Agenda by a Commission member or by Citizen Request.

• Meeting Minutes of the July 12, 2016 regular meeting – Commissioner Lane moved to accept the minutes as submitted. Second by Commissioner Cookson, passed unanimously.
• Accounting Summary Report by Port Auditor Susan Henry:
  • Net General Fund balance (not including project fund) is $70,559.96. Project Fund Balance is $5,585.00.

Payables for August 18, 2016:

• Vouchers totaling $5,423.25. Commissioner Henderson motioned to approve vouchers as presented. Seconded by Commissioner Lane, passed unanimously.

Donations for 100 Year Dock Celebration:

• Received to date: $2,251.00.
• Commissioner Henderson moved to release donated funds to Celebration Committee member Karen Kinnaird for disbursement to celebration vendors for expenses. Seconded by Commissioner Lane, passed unanimously.

Old Business Items#

New Business Items#

Grant Update – Commissioner Cookson#

• Second presentation to the State Board on 8/16/16.
• Potential response from the Board by 8/29/16 or later.
• Legislature must then fund the grant; project expected in 2017.

100 Year Indianola Dock Celebration#

• Celebration scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2016.
• Cake and Ice Cream social at the Clubhouse in the afternoon, followed by a street dance at 8:00 PM.

End of Dock Navigation Light – Commissioner Lane#

• West side navigation light stopped working. He and Rob Kinnaird repaired it.
• Suggested investigating protective cages to prevent outages.
• Navigation lights are required by the Coast Guard and must be maintained.

Slide Show Presentation – Sarah Runnels#

• Slide show for the Cake and Ice Cream social shared with Commissioners.
• Featured historical pictures from original dock construction to present day.

Next Port Commissioners Meeting#

• Scheduled for September 20, 2016.
