New Business Items# Accounting Summary# Carol Tripp presented the accounting summary as of April 30, 2013:Net positive inflow of cash: $13,934.75 Account balances as of April 30, 2013:General Fund: $18,121.01 General Fund Investment Account: $49,163.99 Total Account Balances: $67,285 Letter of Recommendation for Carol Tripp / Port Auditor# A letter of recommendation recognizing Ms. Tripp’s exemplary service was read by Commissioner Wald. Ms. Tripp’s tenure as Port Auditor ended effective June 4, 2013. All Commissioners expressed regret and wished her well. Commissioner Candidates for Districts 2 & 3 Announced# John Lane and Pat Hachel filed for District 3. Eric Cookson filed for District 2. The Board thanks the candidates and welcomes them to upcoming meetings. Discussion of Proposed Port Tax Levy Increase# The Board reviewed the Port budget, Dock condition, and repair/maintenance needs. Proposed increase: from $0.15 per $1,000 assessed property value to $0.22 per $1,000.Example: $250,000 home would see an increase of approximately $18/year. A special meeting is scheduled for July 23 to provide information and address community questions. Commissioner Wald will notify the North Kitsap Herald regarding the special meeting. John Lane commended the Board for their work addressing Port issues. Dave Haley urged the Board to be prepared to justify repair needs and fiscal requirements for the proposed tax levy increase.
