MEETING MINUTES OF THE INDIANOLA PORT DISTRICT BOARD OF PORT COMMISSIONERS, Tuesday, October 21st, 2025 AT 7:00 PM, INDIANOLA CLUBHOUSE 19876 INDIANOLA ROAD NE, INDIANOLA, WA 98342


Commissioners in attendance: Gary Walker, Ted Schmid

Auditor: Michael Buerger

Recording Secretary: Melody Jorgensen

Guest: Cindy Abbott, Susan Henry


CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Walker called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.


COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Commissioner Comments is the time for Board members to present verbal reports and suggest future agenda items. NONE


CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:

All matters listed within the Consent Agenda have been distributed to each member of the Commission for reading and study. They are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion of the Commission with no separate discussion. If separate discussion is desired, that item may be removed from the Consent Agenda and placed on the Regular Agenda by a Commission member or by a Citizen Request.


  1. Meeting Minutes of the September 16th, 2025 regular meeting - Commissioner Walker moved to accept minutes as submitted, Seconded by Commissioner Schmid. Unanimously approved.

  2. Accounting Summary Report –None.

  3. Payables –No Payables

  4. Guests-Cindy Abbott, Susan Henry


OLD BUSINESS ITEMS: None


NEW BUSINESS ITEM


  1. Piling Replacement Process-Commissioner Walker talked with Aquatic Resource about pursing contract.

  2. Resignation-Motion proposed by Commissioner Walker to accept Commissioner Henderson’s resignation. Commissioner Schmid seconded.

  3. Port Auditor- PO box keys and checks passed on to Michael Buerger. Susan Henry and Michael to review paper work for Port Auditor.

  4. Sign Committee- Gary had discussion with Tribal represenitive re wording of sign for head of dock. Gary will follow up.

  5. Email/Website Update- Ted Schmid and Michael to check and let Gary know if their emails are working. To be followed up.

  6. 2025 Levy Certification- Received paper work from county with estimate of tax income for port for 2026.Question raised re increase maximum amount. Gary will follow up. Motion by Commissioner Walker to accept Levy Certification Commissioner Schmid seconded.

  7. Non Compensation forms-Waivers signed by Commissioner Walker and Commissioner Schmid for their Port of Indianola positions thru to December 31/2025.

  8. Port Commissioner Open Position-Commissioner Walker will post position inviting interested persons in District One to contact him or Commissioner Schmid. It will be posted for 15 days. Posting at Indianola Post office, Indianola Store, Community bulletin Board and Port of Indianola website. Cindy Abbott expressed interest.

  9. Next Meeting- Tuesday November 18th,2025

EXECUTIVE SESSION


ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Walker moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 PM. Seconded by Commissioner Schmid. Passed unanimously.
