MEETING MINUTES OF THE INDIANOLA PORT DISTRICT BOARD OF PORT COMMISSIONERS, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 7:00 PM, INDIANOLA CLUBHOUSE 20446 INDIANOLA ROAD NE, INDIANOLA, WA 98342

CALL TO ORDER 7:12 PM
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Commissioner Comments is the time for Board members to present verbal reports and suggest future agenda items. NONE
CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:
All matters listed within the Consent Agenda have been distributed to each member of the Commission for reading and study, are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion of the Commission with no separate discussion. If separate discussion is desired, that item may be removed from the Consent Agenda and placed on the Regular Agenda by a Commission member or by Citizen Request.
- Meeting Minutes of the May 20, 2014 meeting – Commissioner Lane moved to accept the minutes, Second by Commissioner Henderson, passed unanimously.
- Payables - Vouchers #1703 - #1706 totaling $6,698.74 for payment to Mattson Construction for Float installation, Jeff Henderson reimbursement for KCDCD permit fees and old swim float disposal, Eric Cookson reimbursement of Port Survey mailing, Bill Henry Construction for swim float stabilization materials. Motion to accept by Commissioner Lane, Second by Commissioner Henderson, Passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS ITEMS – NONE
NEW BUSINESS ITEMS
Accounting Summary – Port Auditor, Susan Henry, reported POI account balance of $81,858.80
USACE – Corps of Engineers submitted via US Mail on May 30, 2014. Anticipated response by end of July 2014. Commissioner Henderson to provide a copy to Alison O’Sullivan of the Suquamish Tribe.
Advisory Committee meeting may be necessary to discuss future construction strategy.
Deck Maintenance: Commissioner Lane showed a sample of 2 X 6 non-treated lumber to be utilized for all future decking maintenance. Lumber will be sourced through Smyth Lumber of Indianola.
Kayak Storage: Commissioner Lane approached Matt Smith to provide pro-bono design ideas for a kayak storage facility on Port property. Commissioner Henderson suggested that any such structure be free-standing and not attached to any support member of the Indianola Dock.
Swim Float: Installed on May 30, 2014. The Commissioners wish to thank Matt Matson for his assistance with launching the seasonal float via his boom truck and for towing the float to the Indianola Dock. The Commissioners also wish to acknowledge the “usual suspects” for their volunteer efforts to install the swim float ramp and secure the float. Additionally, the Commissioners want to thank Bill Henry for solving the ballast issue on the swim float, installing the necessary materials and for donating his labor.
New State requirement for elected officials to complete Open Meeting and Public Record training prior to December 21, 2014. Washington Public Ports Association will offer several alternatives in the coming months to comply with the new law.

OPEN TO PUBLIC COMMENT (LIMIT 3 MINUTES EACH)
Suggestion to delete the maximum 3 minute limit on public comments to encourage information exchanges between Commissioners and public attendees.
Commissioner Henderson acknowledged the many volunteer hours of Connie Reckord, Lisa Fitch and Paul Larson to complete the necessary permit documents for submittal to multiple Federal, State and Local agencies.

ADJOURNMENT – Commissioner Lane moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 PM, Second by Commissioner Henderson, passed unanimously.
